Sebastian's Ranch

Careers

Work that a child
remembers for life.

Sebastian’s Ranch will be a permanent home for children who have lost one, in Northeast Florida. When it opens it will employ around 253 people — house parents, therapists, teachers, nurses, cooks, farmers, drivers, and the people who keep a small town running.

Where We Are

The Ranch is in development. No land has been purchased yet, and the campus is roughly five to seven years from opening its doors. Hiring will begin well before children arrive — staff come first, so the rhythms of the place are established before it fills up.

No positions are open yet.

The full staffing plan is written — 88 distinct roles across care, clinical, education, safety, agriculture, food service, and administration. Those roles will be posted here as the campus is built and funded, starting with the leadership and development team.

If you do work like this and want to be told when hiring opens, reach out through The Summers Organization. We keep those notes.

What Working Here Means

The job is the child’s ordinary Tuesday.

Four adults to a house

A married couple lives in each home and provides the constant presence. Family life specialists work a rotation alongside them, with relief and overnight staff behind that. Nobody is expected to carry a house alone.

Trauma-informed, every role

Not only therapists. The person who cooks, drives, teaches, fixes the roof, or works the barn is part of how a child recovers. Training is provided and required.

Real work with real support

Clinical supervision, coaching, critical-incident debriefing, and genuine time off. Burnout is treated as an operating failure, not an individual weakness.

Built to last a century

The Ranch is designed to outlive everyone who builds it. These are careers, not placements — the intent is that people stay, and that children see the same faces year after year.

Pay & Benefits

Paid fairly, supported properly.

Roles are paid at market to modestly above market, with selective premiums where continuity matters most — trauma-focused clinical work and the child-facing roles that are hardest to keep. Every posting states its range. The package is designed to be judged as a whole, not on salary alone.

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage with a strong employer contribution
  • 403(b) retirement plan with employer match up to 6%
  • Employer-paid life insurance and short- and long-term disability
  • Paid time off, sick leave, holidays, and paid parental leave
  • Low-or-no-copay outpatient mental health support and an Employee Assistance Program
  • Ranch-paid required training, continuing education, and licensure support
  • Housing and utilities provided for live-in resident house-parent roles

Final plan design, eligibility, and employee contribution levels are set through procurement and annual renewal before the first hire.

Before You Apply

Every role here is a position of trust.

Every position — not only the ones working directly with children — requires background screening, fingerprinting, reference checks, and credential verification before unsupervised contact. Mandatory reporting, professional boundaries, and confidentiality are conditions of employment, not preferences.

We would rather be slow and right than fast. If that sounds like an obstacle, this is probably not the place. If it sounds like the bare minimum, we should talk.
